Scout Popcorn Sale
During the first weekend in October, Cub Scout Pack 109 holds their annual popcorn sale after all Masses.
Popcorn sales are the main fundraiser for the Pack, with a third of the money raised for the Pack, a third for the ILLOWA council, and a third to Pecatonica River, the company providing us with our products.
By supporting our Scouts with a purchase, Sacred Heart parishioners are supporting our Scouts’ efforts to achieve a tangible goal by helping them raise money toward adventures they go on throughout the year. Funds raised also help the Pack’s leadership offset the costs that might otherwise keep youth from joining our Pack.
By selling popcorn, Scouts of all ages can develop entrepreneurial skills, math skills, and learn perseverance. Through this fundraiser our scouts have the opportunity to exhibit that “a Scout is Thrifty” by learning the value of hard work, goal setting, and the principle of paying their own way by having a goal in mind for the profits from our Pack’s sales.
Pack 109 appreciates the support that Sacred Heart has shown for this fundraiser for decades. Many current and former parishioners assisted us by making a purchase, in some cases they served as the leaders of our scouts and managed the popcorn sales too. We thank our past leaders, cub scout parents, Father Mark and Father Matthew for their support of scouting over the years.
