Walking With Moms Group: Growing Your Faith
St. Teresa of Calcutta says “If you want to bring happiness to the whole world, go home and love your family.” That is where our work begins, loving our family. The Walking With Moms group (WWM) gives moms the support they need to fulfill their God given mission: motherhood.
We are a group of moms founded in 2015 based on a need to serve young moms in the Parish that started with one book. Out of that need and the spiritual growth we saw in ourselves and each other, the group has grown into a community of moms who actively try to grow their spiritual lives and support each other in this important work of motherhood.
We usually review two or three books in a given calendar year and welcome moms to come to any number of meetings they are able to attend. In between meetings we spend time engaging in our online community sharing resources and our prayer intentions.
In addition to our book study, we also have social gatherings that are sometimes planned and sometimes last minute. We plan get-togethers for birthdays, baby showers, and sometimes for a couples’ night out. We encourage all moms with any number of children, and of any age to come and join us in our work.
Some of the books we read are: “Momnipotent” by Danielle Bean, “Divine Mercy For Moms” and “The Friendship Project” both by Michele Faehnle and Emily Jaminet, “Living Joy: 9 Rules That Will Change Your Life” by Chris Stefanick, “Good Enough Is Good Enough” by Colleen Duggan, and our latest “Catholic Mom Calm” by Sterling Jaquith.
