Eagle Scout from Troop 109

Jonah Verschoore started his journey with Troop 109 in 2017 and earned his Scout badge quickly. In January 2018, he proceeded to Tenderfoot Rank. He achieved Second Class by the end of 2018. His climb to Eagle continued as he earned his First-class rank on May 6, 2019. During this time, Jonah enjoyed learning many new skills at meetings, camp outs, and going to summer camp at Loud Thunder and Tomahawk Camp in Wisconsin. In 2019, he attended the 24th World Scout Jamboree, held at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. He spent a week with 40,000 scouts from around the world participating and celebrating in any and all activities that scouting has to offer. Jonah’s journey continued to the rank of Star Scout.

Here, he started working more on his leadership and his required merit badges. On September 27, 2021, Jonah earned his rank of Life Scout. There was one rank left, Eagle. The leadership he undertook in the troop as Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, along with all he learned at Alleman on and off the football field and wrestling mat, helped prepare him to tackle his Eagle project.

Jonah’s Eagle project was to erect flag poles at his church, St. Ambrose, in Milan. He led a large contingent of volunteers to help him with this project on a beautiful July afternoon. He officially earned his rank of Eagle on July 25, 2023. Jonah is currently attending Western Illinois University and is pursuing a degree in Law Enforcement.
