End-of-Life Planning Event

End-of-life planning is defined as planning for what you wish to have happen when you die.

Join us on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Damien Center to hear more about hospice care, final resting places, and planning your final wishes both at the funeral home and church.

Your spiritual, philosophical, and religious belief systems tend to guide your feelings and rituals around death and dying. You may have had conversations with loved ones about your preferences and thoughts, but chances are, these discussions alone won’t guide others at the end of your life. You must have written documents in place that honor your wishes and instruct the people responsible for carrying out those wishes and preferences.

The end of life is a process, one that can involve scores of heart-wrenching and difficult decisions. Planning ahead is significantly helpful for us all, not just people who are dying. Many loved ones, relatives, and friends want to honor your wishes and legacy. End-of-life planning also means thinking and talking about how you wish to be cared for in the final months of your life.

Making these decisions now can put your mind at ease and reassures those who care about you. By planning ahead, you can make your illness and death easier for your family to handle.

We have speakers from Rafferty’s Funeral Home, Unity Point Hospice Care, the Rock Island National Cemetery, and Father Mark to guide you in your end-of-life planning. You may contact Debbie Patronagio and make an appointment to plan your funeral Mass at Sacred Heart.
