Feast of the Epiphany

Dear Parishioners,

Many people volunteer their time and talents throughout the year at Sacred Heart. We try to thank people as things happen, but we know that we do not thank everyone we should. That is why, once a year, we try to show appreciation to all volunteers. We do this on the Feast of Epiphany. This year the feast falls on Sunday, January 5th.

We recall that the Magi came to the Christ Child bringing gifts. In many parts of the world people do not give gifts on Christmas but they give them on the Feast of Epiphany. I remember being in Rome while I was in graduate school; the city squares had booths with vendors selling a variety of treasures so people could buy special items for loved ones.

Fr. Matthew, the staff, and I would like to make a gift of food and drink on January 5th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The party will be in the St. Damien Center. We are having a contest to see who has the most garish Christmas sweatshirt! The winner receives a bottle of fine wine. Come and join in the final holiday party of the season. Let us give you our thanks.

Blessings,
Fr. Mark
