Mardi Gras - February 13th, 2024
Everyone is invited to this year’s Mardi Gras Celebration to be held Tuesday, February 13th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the gym and cafeteria of Culemans Memorial Hall. The Social Committee is preparing food to be served until 6:30 p.m. A free will donation is welcome. Come enjoy the food, fellowship, and fun with a variety of games for children and for adults too! Bring your quarters for Showdown!
We are seeking volunteers to set up, tear down, and help with food and games. Bakers are also needed to volunteer to donate desserts. We appreciate any help you can give us! If you are able to volunteer, please contact Mike Starr at starr2801@gmail.com or call or text him at (309) 235-6975.
Mardi Gras translated literally means “Fat Tuesday’’ in French and is a long-standing tradition of the Catholic Church. It marks the last day of ordinary time before the start of Lent, a time of fasting and repentance. It is the “last hurrah” before the Lenten season begins on Ash Wednesday. This is a time of anticipation to prepare our hearts for a Holy Lent.
We hope all of our parishioners will be able to take the time to come and celebrate this year at our annual Mardi Gras Celebration!
