VBS 2023 Recap

This year 39 children set off on an adventure around the world learning about Amazing Angels and Super Saints. The theme was based on PRAYER. Through music, faith, crafts, games, and food, the angels and saints came alive. Guest speakers like Father Mark, Father Matthew, and Maria Escamilla shared what prayer and the saints meant to them.

Our Vacation Bible School (VBS) travelers boarded a plane and flew first to Canada where they met with St. Raphael and learned about the virtue of Responsibility and the meaning of prayer.

Then off they flew to Poland where they met St. Faustina, and learned about Trust and how to pray.

Day 3 saw us heading to France to meet St. Bernadette, to understand the virtue of Respect, and how praying gets us through the ups and downs of life.

On to Italy we went to meet St. John Bosco, and learn more about the virtue of Zeal and putting prayer in action.

Our week ended in Mexico, where we met St. Juan Diego and learned the virtue of Humility and how to refuel our faith.

All who had a hand in making our VBS exciting worked hard to turn Culemans Fellowship Hall into the Quad City International Airport, where planes were taking off and landing as we started the adventure.

We ended the week with a family Mass. Father Mark’s homily was about Father Culemans, our first priest who was responsible for creating this beautiful house in which we can come together to worship God. After Mass, we all enjoyed lunch together.

How blessed we are here at Sacred Heart Church to have so many wonderful volunteers who give of their time, talent, and treasure to help our children learn more about their faith.

Next year we will have a huge BIRTHDAY BASH ~ A Celebration of Life! Mark your calendars for July 8th to the 12th. It is a birthday party and I am sure we will have cake and ice cream. Expect a fun time as we learn about the importance of LIFE!
