Summer Celebrations - July 9th
Dear Parishioners,
As I write to you, I just presided over our second First Communion Mass. These are always joyous celebrations. The children look so proud as the girls wear their white first communion dresses and the boys dress in their suits. They will remember this day for the rest of their lives. Many older parishioners mentioned how they were reminded of their First Communion.
Many First Communions happened here at Sacred Heart Church. Thousands of people have celebrated their sacraments here over the last 100 years. We plan to observe the 100th year of our church building in the months to come.
On July 9th, we have another special celebration, an outdoor Mass in front of Culemans Hall at the 9:15 a.m. liturgy, like the last several summers.
After the Mass, we move over to the Gathering Center to bury a time capsule. In that capsule are artifacts from the cornerstone of the original Church. In addition, there are historical items from the commemoration of the laying of the cornerstone, the groundbreaking ceremony and the dedication for the Gathering Center.
July 9th is another special day for our parish. Please try to be with us and plan to attend other celebrations in the upcoming year.
Enjoy a summer of Holy Leisure,
Fr. Mark
