Feast of the Sacred Heart 2023
The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus honors the Sacred Heart. In 1675, Jesus told St. Margaret Mary that He wanted the Feast of the Sacred Heart to be celebrated on the Friday after the Corpus Christi octave. In 1856, the Feast of the Sacred Heart became a universal feast. The feast was first celebrated on August 31, 1670. In 1956, Pope Pius IX, established the Feast of the Sacred Heart as obligatory for the whole church. St. John Paul II said, “This feast reminds me of the mystery of the love of God for the people of all times.”
We are celebrating our Parish Feast Day on Friday, June 16, 2023. This special Mass with music begins at 8:00 a.m. Please join us for the celebration of the Mass followed by a reception in the Gathering Center. As a parish, we have so much to celebrate and we are so grateful for the blessings God continues to bestow upon us. Let us join together on June 16, in thankful praise to God!
Solemnity of the Sacred Heart prayer: Grant, we pray, almighty God, that we, who glory in the Heart of your beloved Son and recall the wonders of his love for us, may be made worthy to receive an overflowing measure of grace from that fount of heavenly gifts. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
