The Most Holy Trinity

Dear Parishioners,

Our tuck-pointing project is finally completed.  This, as you know, has been an ongoing concern for the last five years.  The latest work has taken place over the last several months.  This cost us roughly $155,000.  The money was raised in the TTT campaign.

We had attacked the stonework in four previous phases. The church has been completely tuckpointed from top to bottom.   Hopefully, this will stop every leak that may be taking place through the walls.  With an old church there are no guarantees. We will have to continue to monitor things. But we have done everything we can to preserve the integrity of the building.

All this work could not have been completed without the generosity of many parishioners. You obviously take pride in your church building.  Next up is the restoration of the stained glass windows.  This will begin at the end of July and will be a massive project that will take many months to complete.

I would like to thank Don Lewis for being here the last ninety days to oversee the work of the masons.  He made sure that they have had everything they need.  He is presently making sure that the cleanup of the site is accomplished.

Talking about maintenance is not something that is real exciting.  We can build up the church in a physical sense.  We need to also energize the church in a spiritual sense. Organized religion in our society has taken many body blows the last three decades. People are reluctant to invest in church communities.   Our faith tells us that the church will survive.  Let’s pray that we can not only repair the church physically, but that we can repair the church spiritually as we look at our future.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark

P.S. To all the men in our parish who have given their time and love to those in need we wish you a very Happy Father’s Day.
