Fourth Sunday of Lent
Dear Parishioner,
On April 1st and 2nd our parish will be having the Annual Diocesan Appeal. This is one of the biggest fund drives that we have during the year. By now you may have received information as to how the revenue will be used for the diocese. These monies subsidize everything from seminarian education to Catholic Charities. These ministries of the diocese are important.
I would just like to point out again how falling short of our goal effects our parish finances. If we do not make our goal, we must pay the shortfall out of our parish revenue. In the upcoming year, we must give the diocese approximately $25,000. This is better than two years ago, when the bill for shortfall was $40,000. We have made progress. It would be nice to make goal so that we could use our offertory donations to pay for the many needs we have at Sacred Heart.
All monies donated to the ADA are considered extraordinary income and are not assessed. This is a very important thing to consider along with the fact that the diocese will receive its funds no matter what.
This year our goal is $137,000 which is about $3,000 more than last year. We have a big challenge to collect this amount. I would ask people to remember that if we do not make our targeted amount the only entity that will be penalized is Sacred Heart Parish.
I appreciate very much the way the funds collected for ADA have increased in recent years. It would be very helpful to the ministry here at Sacred Heart if we could be as successful as last year with this drive or maybe even do a little better. Thanks for sharing your resources in this way.
Blessings,
Fr. Mark
