Dedication Ceremony - March 18th, 2023

A Historic Day at Sacred Heart

On Saturday, March 18th, Bishop Tylka will be at Sacred Heart Parish to bless our new Gathering Center. This blessing will begin with a Mass at 4:00 p.m. We will recognize the parish leaders who have carried this project forward to its completion.

We have had eight years of fundraising and three phases of capital improvements. Our Building Committee, Facilities Committee, and Fundraising Committee have done extraordinary work. Temporary committees dealing with building and fundraising had to commit to more time than originally planned because of the COVID pandemic. Parishioners continued to work and plan because they believed in the importance of the Gathering Center for the life of our parish.

The Gathering Center includes universal access to our worship space. Parishioners are able to drop loved ones off out of the weather at the door under the portico . There are also modern bathrooms, a bride's room/lounge, a holding kitchen, Blessing Gift Shop, a confessional, and gathering space.

After Mass on March 18th, a recognition of the parish leadership that led the way will be held. We will then process over to the main room of the Gathering Center for a brief prayer service and hors d’oeuvres and libations.

On the day our church was dedicated in April of 1923, the church was full and eleven hundred people stood outside in the street. It would be nice to have a large turnout on March 18th as a sign that the faith of Sacred Heart Parish is still vibrant and the people of Sacred Heart are ready for another century of worship.
