Mardi Gras: February 21

Diana Rasmussen and Mike Starr

Everyone is invited to this year’s Mardi Gras Celebration to be held from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on February 21st in the gym and cafeteria of Culemans Memorial Hall.  Food will be served until 6:30 p.m.  A free will donation will be accepted. Come enjoy the food, fellowship, and fun with a variety of games for children and for adults too!

Volunteers are needed to set up, tear down, and help with food and games. Also, volunteers are needed to bake desserts. We appreciate any help you can give us! If you are able to volunteer, please contact Linda Noe at linda.noe1@us.army.mil or (309) 781-5710.

Mardi Gras literally means “Fat Tuesday” in French and is a long standing tradition of the Catholic Church. It marks the last day of ordinary time before the start of Lent, a time of fasting and repentance.  It is the “last hurrah” before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.  This should be viewed as a time of anticipation as we say goodbye to our old norm and prepare our hearts for a Holy Lent.

We hope all of our parishioners will be able to take the time to come and celebrate this year. Invite your friends.
