Sacred Heart Parish has had to minister in a different fashion the last few weeks. On March 13th the diocese stopped all public worship and asked that parish buildings be closed to the public. When the stay at home order began, Father Mark, Father Matthew, and Deacon Pat began gathering for 8:00 a.m. Mass every day. They wanted liturgical worship to continue at Sacred Heart.

It was decided in the second week of the lockdown that we would live stream Mass on Facebook on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. We then embed the Mass on our WEB page so that everyone could see it. Parish staff and volunteers embraced the tasks involved in this new ministry. While keeping social distance, they set up a “television chapel,” worked with lighting, sound, and other issues to try to make our broadcast as pleasing as possible. We also tried to make our chapel look as inspiring as we could. We are now live streaming  Mass at 8:00 a.m. daily, and we are also continuing to live stream the 4:00 p.m. Mass on Saturdays.

We are learning as we go. Special thanks to Kate Schaefer, Mike Maynard, Sam Maynard, Father Matthew, Suzie Budde, Sandy Madison, Elaine Hofman, and Bill Peiffer who have helped make our live streaming Masses a reality.

We have started virtual meetings and conference calls the last couple of weeks. This will help us plan for when the lockdown finally ends.  We also pray that all of these efforts help keep our parish community connected.
