What We're Doing & How You Can Help

This Month's Stories

During these difficult times, as we come to terms with new realities of suspended public Masses, and the inability to gather together as families and a parish, there is still much that we can do to grow our faith and aid one another.  Pope Saint John XXIII famously visited a prison in Rome shortly after his election and told the prisoners there, “You cannot come to me, so I have come to you.”  Through the use of technology, Sacred Heart will come to you as much as possible via our website, Facebook, and in email.

What is the parish doing?

  • Sacred Heart will broadcast our 4 p.m Mass live every Saturday. We invite you to watch it from our parish website homepage via the Facebook feed midway down the page on the left. You do not need to have a Facebook account to do this. The Mass will also be archived on our parish page so you may watch it at a later time.

We hope to broadcast live as much of our Holy Week/Triduum as possible. We invite all parishioners to tune in and watch:  Holy Thursday (April 9) at 7 pm, Good Friday (April 10) at 3 pm, Easter Vigil (April 11) at 8 pm, and Easter Sunday (April 12)
  • Fr. Mark is sharing short, daily homilies. Just click on the Pastor’s Corner tab on the homepage of our website to read his daily and weekly homilies.
  • Do you need to connect with Fr. Mark for spiritual direction during this difficult time? You can call 309.762.2363 ext. 211 to leave a message.

What can you do?

  • Pray.  Those ill with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) and those fighting this pandemic on the frontlines are in most need of our prayers.  Also pray for those yearning to receive the Eucharist again, and for the world as it heals from this pandemic.  Pray also for our parish as we navigate as best we can through unchartered waters in the midst of Lent and Holy Week, a major capital campaign, and a need to remain connected to each other.
  • Tune in and participate with our “live” Masses.  Since you cannot receive the Eucharist, we do invite you to recite the Prayer of Spiritual Communion as you watch with us:

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You
Amen.

  • We still need your support. Our parish is dependent on the contributions of parishioners to keep the work of our church going and pay our ordinary expenses. Please continue to send in your contribution envelopes by mailing them to us at: 1608 13th Street, Moline IL 61265. If you have not signed up to contribute online, now would be a good time to do so by visiting:
    www.sacredheartmoline.org/contribute

  • Keep up to date on the latest from Sacred Heart by checking out our weekly condensed version of our bulletin here: www.sacredheartmoline.org/about-us/bulletins

  • Send us your email!  The most effective, and quickest way for us to keep you up-to-date is via email but we don’t currently have all parishioners emails.  Please submit your email to us (even if you “think” you’ve already done this in the past) using the quick sign up form on the homepage of our parish website!
