Coffee Café

Latest Posts

Coffee Café is a fun way to share fellowship with other parishioners after Mass, on the second Sunday of most months. We do take July – September off (our summer). We invite parishioners to join us any time after 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 am on those mornings. Although traditionally we invite people to share breakfast and fellowship after the 7:00 am and 9:00 am Masses, we welcome parishioners to come back if they participated in the 4:00 pm Mass the day before. And if you want to stop in before the 11:00 am Mass and share in a bite to eat, just come early enough to fast before partaking in the Holy Eucharist. When Religious Education is in session, Coffee Café is in the cafeteria and when there is no Religious Education, we have it in Fellowship Hall.

What is Coffee Café? If you haven’t stopped by before, be sure to give us a try. Yes, we have coffee and donuts. But we are so much more than that. We have a selection of fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, Danish, breads and usually something warm to round out the meal. It could be biscuits and gravy, egg casserole or maybe scrambled eggs. Most months Marcia Starr will also have what has become her famous cherry coffee cake. Get there early before Don Lewis has all the corners gone. Yes, those are his favorite!

Coffee Café pairs up with the Welcome Committee three times a year to help welcome the new parishioners, and give them a chance to meet some of the ‘older’ parishioners so we can be sure to give them an extra ‘shout out’ when we see them around the parish or even in the community in general. Watch the bulletin for those announcements and try to stop by and say hello. We also support the Religious Education community as they head from Mass to classes. Many of the parents will stick around and visit while their children are in classes. If you look hard enough you will find a basket accepting freewill donations that will help offset the cost of the breakfast. These are always welcome, but not a requirement.

You may even see the Boy Scouts there as they share their flavored coffees with us. If you like any of their coffees, you can purchase your own bag of flavored coffee.

Would you like to help serve at one of these breakfasts? Maybe just once a year? Contact Mike and Marcia Starr at starr2801@gmail.com or 309-236-8083.
