A Closer Look: Parish Finances

We ended the year “in the black” and are grateful for the financial health of our parish. In our continued spirit of transparency, we would like to share additional financial details about our year.

What A Septemberfest!

Our Fourth Annual September Fest was held on Sunday, September 9th. After an extremely rainy week (especially considering the summer we had), we were blessed with a day full of sunshine and happy people.

Honoring Vets: Sunday, Nov. 11

This year, Veterans Day is on a Sunday. With that, we are trying something a little different. Rather than our normal dinner honoring the veterans, we will be joining Coffee Café and celebrating and thanking our veterans with breakfast.

Join Us at Our Mass of Remembrance on Nov. 3

At the 4:00 Mass on Saturday, November 3rd, the Mass also will have a ritual for announcing the names of our deceased women and men accompanied by the traditional candle lighting. After the Mass families will gather in Culemans Fellowship Hall for a reception with light refreshments.

Diagnosing Our Financial Health

Every year our parish finance committee shares a complete financial report with every parishioner. We do this, so every parishioner will understand the financial health of the parish.

Pope Francis: Let the Word of God take root in your heart

Catholics should listen to the scripture readings at Mass with an open heart, so that the Word of God can take root in their lives and bear good fruit, Pope Francis said Sunday. “Let’s do an examination of conscience to see how we welcome the Word of God. On Sunday we listen to it in the Mass. If we listen to it in a distracted or superficial way, it will not help us much,” the Pope said Sept. 2.

A Year of Growth

This year will be a pivotal year in our parish. We will be engaging in a capital campaign. It is a unique undertaking. We are joining with Christ the King Parish and Seton School to raise funds for building projects that will affect all three institutions. We have contracted with the Steier Group which is headquartered in Omaha Nebraska to solicit pledges for the improvements we hope to make. How the Catholics of Moline will respond to this undertaking will determine how healthy our local Catholic Community will be in the future.

Septemberfest 2018 is Nearly Here!

This Sunday, September 9th, join us for the food and festivities of our Fourth Annual Septemberfest! We will meet in the green space between Seton Elementary School and Culemans Fellowship Hall from noon to 3:00 PM. If you are interested in providing desserts, a tent, or a helping hand, please contact Connie.

Looking at the Catholic Faith

Faith-seekers need an invitation to follow up on their desire. Please encourage interested friends to come for the opening sessions of the Christian Initiation for Adults at Sacred Heart.

A Note From the Music Department

The Contemporary Group will be providing music for the 9 and 11 am Masses on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Some of the songs will be full of energy and will help us all to worship with enthusiasm while other songs will have a more deeply prayerful energy and will help us all to worship more fully.
